OMG! WHAT?!?!?! is how it ended.
After seeing Episode 4.3 we know that Sayid is the Oceanic 6's 4th member. We also know that Ben, the mastermind that he is, probably gets off the island more than we've known. Can we also assume that the people on the ship fail at their mission? I think that was a detail that a lot of viewers might have missed...
In the little dialogue between Sayid and Ben at the end of the episode, we hear that Sayid is actually in the business of "protecting" his friends. This actually makes me think that Ben is actually a "good" guy, and is only doing what he must to protect the island and its inhabitants. His mission in the flash-forward is to eliminate the people who are seeking to possess the powers of the island.
Flight 815 survivors who are not part of the Oceanic 6 probably wanted to stay on the island (hinted by Sawyer, and also in previous episodes with Rose and Bernard). Keep in mind that there may be more islanders that make it off the island (e.g. Ben, Desmond), as they can't be considered a member of Oceanic 6 because they weren't on the flight that crashed.
The theory that there are survivors still on the island (in the flash forward scenes) might explain the confusion of emotions (happiness vs. guilt) that Jack and Hugo express in the flash-forward scenes. If you can remember in the first episode of the season, we find Hurley and Jack keeping hush about "something" while shooting some hoops. I’m guessing that the secret is of the survivors still on the island. If we assume that Ben is in the coffin from season 3, we’d know why Jack gets upset…because he knows that the secrets of the island (including the way back) are probably forever gone with its keeper.
The interesting part of the episode for me was the whole 31 minute time shift thing. I could easily make this blog-entry double in length by going off on a multiuniverse/quantum physics tangent...but instead I'll leave you with some links involving the time travel theory I believe the story to be following (Charlie is dead and alive!!!):

Does anybody else think that Sayid could actually be Ben's 'spy' aboard the boat? What if Sayid is that spy, but he just hadn't gotten to the boat, yet? And Sayid seemed way too fond of Naomi. He seemed to be praying for her. Then closed her eyes. Notice the bracelet he took off her? That's the SAME bracelet he took off Elsa after he killed her (and closed her eyes). Makes me think he KNEW Naomi beforehand. Poor Sayid. So unlucky in love.
usatoday just posted their video interview with rebecca mader. We get a bit of insight into the 4 characters.

how could Sayid be the spy of the boat Ben already know all the info about Daniel and Miles and Frank and Charlotte so the spy was already on the boat before Sayid even left for it. check out my Lost blog

Has anyone considered that Michael could be Ben's spy aboard the boat? The writers eluded to the fact that Michael and Walt would be seen again. Walt gave Locke a message after Ben shot him; but we've yet to see Michael. Hmmmmm, interesting!
