Juliet is wicked!
I think the only way to start the blog today is to start with the end of Lost last night. Juliet is pure evil. She is turning out to be scarier than Ben. I love her character - possibly my favorite character now.
Juliet "seems" to have been driven by ambition in her work life, but I think she might be perfect for the Dharma project considering she broke all protocols by impregnanting her sister off the clock. So, while even in her flashbacks she seems innocent and nice, really her ambition just keeps driving her...much like she keeps doing things on the island that are conniving and cruel. Her island activities seem to be driven by her quest to get off the island and back to hr sister, but after watching the Ben/Juliet conspiracy at the end, I wonder if there is some part of her that is being driven by whatever is driving Ben. I am also wondering if Juliet totally created Ben's tumor as a way to escape the island or.....she is evil...what is she up too?!! I did love when Juliet erupted at Ben - she is crazy mean. I love it. Ben looked a little scared of her.
Now, let's talk about pregnant women. We have been led to believe that Juliet has been brought here to solve the problem of all women dying once they are pregnant and never being able to give birth. She is a prize to Ben because she was able to impregnate her sister. This leads me back to my favorite topic: the bible and mysticism!
Remember my references to Jacob in my Fall Finale Blog? (I'm sure you don't) Just a reminder on some of my musings:
"There are so many biblical references...now we have "Jacob" as well and "Benjamin" - both biblical names ..... and Jack "Shephard. In Genesis you can read all about Jacob's sons, one being named Benjamin, son of Rachel. Seems Jacob had no fertility issues at all and wouldn't need a doctor such as Juliet. But, Rachel...yes Rachel wasn't conceiving fast enough so she recruited some handmaidens to do the job? Claire? Sun? Hmmmmmm..You could go nuts on the Jacob/Benjamin bible connections...read and see what you think. I'm no bible scholar, but you can find connections in Jacob's stories in Genesis."
So, we now know the island has fertility "issues", but the women are getting pregnant, just not living through the pregnancy. It's like the island or whatever is destroying any new life.
Interesting.
So, it also seems as though Ben may have the cure for a cancer? Everyone on the island seems to get cured of cancer (except maybe Ben) and they went to mainland and "cured" Rachel's cancer.
"Jacob said he would take care of it himself" - Jacob cures cancer? I was thinking about who Jacob might be again...Jack's dad? He was fertile...Jack and Claire are here.
I loved the scene where Juliet emerged from the submarine...loved it.
My favorite quote of the night: "Should have let that bug-eyed bastard die" - Sawyer.
I am currently trying to find a meaning for the name "Devina" which is what I think Ben called the girl who died.
Jack's a sucker for women!
Okay...out of thoughts for now!
Movable Type 4.1

I got to thinking this morning, didn't Ben tell Jack (I think it was Jack) that he was born on the island? How could he have been if women can't get/stay pregnant there?
We still don't know the motives of Juliet (and we won't until something very major happens). She may not be evil. She maybe nothing more than an outsider. One that has been alone for over three years.
If you want conformation just look at the book she picked for the Book Club: Steven King's Carrie.
What is Carrie about? It is about an outsider in high school who is manipulated by group of "cool kids" to put Carrie in an embarrassing/uncompromising position. After she realizes she has been made a fool of Carrie then becomes angry and uses here unique powers to kill all of them.
And the reaction to her choice of books: Everyone in the book club hated the book. Ben said, "It was depressing."
Don't you find that to be a little odd of a response?
When I read Carrie I giggled my ass off while all those bastards cooked alive in the gym (I didn't enjoy high school much). Some people enjoyed/loathed the Horror of the book.
But Ben's reaction was "It was depressing."
Why Depressing? Why did the Others hate this book? Maybe because the angry individual destroyed the group. Wronging another paid immediate consequences. The "Cool Kids" underestimated the outsider and they all died.
Clearly Ben (and possibly the others) identified with the "Cool Kids," not Carrie, thus he found it depressing. Juliet identified with Carrie, thus she picked it as her Book Club Book.
And this brings me to my theory about Ben. Everyone on the island has a weakness/fear.
You said you though Ben was afraid of Juliet in the Kitchen scene when she slapped the glass out of his hand. I don't think he was fearful of the Juliet, rather her display of unbridled emotion. Ben continued being freaked out even as Juliet was crying into his chest.
When Ben was Henry in the Hatch he never freaked out when Syiad was torturing him (that was just business) he understands that. But when Locke freaked out on him you saw fear because Ben was fearful of Locke’s unbridled emotion.
The others, but especially Ben, seem to lack all empathy for their fellow human beings. They are all very book smart but their emotional IQ is in the toilet. Sh*t, mothers keep dieing after child birth, well then get more mothers to die. Kidnap children from Mothers…no problem. Brain wash people who exhibit free will? OK. It’s like a whole tribe of high functioning autistic kids.
Juliet clearly does not lack empathy though. I don’t find it to be a coincidence that Juliet is always the person bringing people food. She longs to help individual people and she is willing to make sacrifices to do so (her career to help her sister, her life to help Kate and Sawyer to get off the other island, her life to help Jack or Ben, her fear of the unknown (i.e. drinking the OJ) to help humanity?????).
We all agree that Juliet’s number one goal is to get off the island. Outside of that no one knows her motivations. She knows how to play people (see Syiad and Sawyer last episode). Maybe in her time there she has learned of Ben’s weakness/fear and she is using this against him to get what she wants.
All we know right now is that Ben wants Juliet in the camp with our Losties…other than that we really don’t know anything else. And I truly believe the biggest twist would be that maybe one (if not all) the others are “The Good Guys,” except Ben, he’s evil incarnate.
P.S. You know there maybe one very simple reason Juliet is helping Ben to get close to the Losties…you know…they did kill her man less than three months ago. And there is no wrath like a woman’s.
