The Man from Tallahassee
What a great episode.
We found out that most likely Jack doesn't have a "twin", but wow, his character did seem like a totally different Jack. I guess making a deal with the devil (Ben) could be a bit sobering.
We found out that Locke still loves his pyrotechnics and AGAIN managed to be conned into doing something that benefited the Others.
We found out that maybe there is a "box" that can bring anything you wish for to the island. My guess is that you wish for it, or the Others already know what you wish for and they bring it to you from the real world as part of whatever manipulation they are performing. Maybe that's how Jack's dad appeared on the island, Hurley's "imaginary" friend showed up, Kate's " horse, etc. This "box" Ben speaks of - and I'm just guessing - isn't magical at all.
Ben so admires Locke because Locke has been totally sucked in AND he is so easy to manipulate - perfect candidate for Dharma I'd say.
I did love how Locke went flying out that window - that was pretty incredible. I do have questions on whether he was really paralyzed or not or of it is some sort of psychological problem instead. Which brings me to how these Others know everything about the Losties: perhaps they have all spilled their guts in some sort of session with a shrink? We know that they all have "issues" and some have definitely been in mental hospitals. Maybe that's how Ben and friends have all the dirt on these people? Again, nothing supernatural, just gut-spilling by the Losties.
I also read a really interesting blog that guessed that maybe the island is a giant pot-farm or drug-producing farm...Locke was working on a pot farm, we have the dead heroin dealers.....hmm. Maybe it is a drug farm and they are producing lots of hallucinogenics as well. That could explain Desmond..all the weird sightings of things past..etc. And it would explain the extreme measures they take to protect this sacred island from outsiders. But they need test subjects so they have to bring people to the island - Manchurian candidates if you will..Locke is a perfect one so far. I dunno - but I liked it!!
And I didn't write last week, so I wanted to add that Claire's comatose mom really looks like Penny to me....take a look again and let me know what you think.
Other cool things:
- Locke's dad drinks Macutcheon whisky - pours two, but doesn't offer Locke one - just tries to kill him instead
-Jack's dad has popped up in Claire's Jack's, Ana Lucia and Sawyer's flashbacks -- maybe he has a lot more to do with this than we are being led to believe - he wasn't found in that casket after all
-Locke's therapist tells him " I don't want to hear what "you can't do" - which is very close to the mantra we heard Locke say often in the past...."Don't tell me what I can't do"....Jack has said that too if you remember.
