New Rachel post

Beverly brings to our attention a new post on Rachel's blog. It links to an FAQ page (to catch people up with the game -- I'm guessing the ComicCon appearance brought a lot of new folks in), and it also has a new glyph for Hanso Exposed. How totally kitchen!

And with that, I leave you in Doug's capable cyberhands for the next few days, as I'm out of town. Happy glyph hunting!

DOUG NOTE: Rachel's FAQ is pretty kitchen! Catch it here to get all caught up (you, cheaters!): stophanso.rachelblake.com/recap.html. I added it to the "Official Links" over there >

AND, who has all 12 glyphs?!?!

Hanso Exposed

So Todd and Alison updated us on a new development from the SD Comic Con this weekend -- Rachel appeared and lambasted some cast members and writers from "Lost" about the Hanso Foundation. There's a video on YouTube here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF2Ys9qORbM

She says to go to Hansoexposed.com, which now has some stuff on it, including a message from Rachel. We have to find videos and put them together. Let's hear your findings!

Also, note that Rachel says she is "living proof" that Alvar is real. Adds weight to the Alvar love-child theories, eh?

DOUG NOTE: I heard rumors that this happened at Comic-Con... cool to see the video proof! Also, for those interested: 'LOST' executive producer Damon Lindelof revealed at Comic-Con that during Season 3 "something will happen (on the show) that will effectively fry peoples' brains." The show's panel joked that fans might feel this would mark the show "jumping the shark" (yet again) and that it was something the creators strived for. HMMMMMM.

Rachel's blog is updated, and there's a video hidden on the ROT site. Anyone found it yet? Did we ever figure out the new password for the ROT message boards?

Update: Just saw on the Lost Experience Clues site -- someone says the password is "Steinbeck," and I tried it and it worked. Not sure where that came from; possibly a Wally Boles e-mail? Oh, wait, nope. It was in the ROT site source code.

Update: OK, so here's how to find it: (continue reading after the jump if you want to know, otherwise keep looking!)

We all know the game is deep into Act 2. We can assume that there will be a third and final act. We can also assume that the final act will lead up to the Fall premiere of 'LOST.' BUT, did you know that 'LOST' premieres on October 4th?!?!

So does this mean the game is not even halfway through?

Is everyone prepared for another two and a half months of Rachel?

Should Sprite introduce Lymon with caffeine?

Dave and BEx write in to alert us to a new post on Rachel's blog, which leads to a new video. Go try to figure it out yourself, or scroll down to see their comments about how to find it.

Incidentally, I can't get the video to play, even though all the others on that page will. Grr... maybe because so many are watching it right now.

More Mittelwerk ads

Thanks to Ben, Gutsch and Alison for writing in about new Mittelwerk videos on the DJ Dan site. Doug (contributor to Searching for the Perfect Beat: Flyer Designs of the American Rave Scene) and I actually watched these earlier today, but weren't sure if they were new and then got sidetracked in a discussion about the super-scary upcoming movie The Descent.

Anyway, not sure these videos tell us much except that the Mathematical Forecasting and Life Extension initiatives are important to the Hanso Foundation. Hmmm..

Mucho thanks to super sleuth Alison who tipped us off to today's discovery:

Head on over to the blog of the lovely, and toothy, Rachel (HERE).

You will see a noggin image and a username and login: "rblake" & "honourbar" (I didn't have to use it, but 'Ultra Violet' author Ellen did). Clicking on the image will take you to the Jeep/Compass site (HERE), and by clicking on "252" then "my_docs" you get access to a new folder titled "zero_n_such." Obvious to everyone but me, it's an anagram for "crush zone."

Click on the new folder and head on over to the Jeep vehicle site. Look for a "crush zone" description on the featured Jeep and enjoy the new clip.

After doing this, we now have a few questions:

• What's up with the "honourbar" password? Hidden meaning? Canadian spelling?

• Who is Rachel's new ally? Your theories?

• Who is Rachel? What's her true identity? Anyone? Anyone?

Alison and Brandon posted to say there's a new letter from Wally Bole. I'm irritated that I'm not getting these even though I've put my e-mail address in approximately one thousand times at the ROT site. ANYway, here's the letter text:

Thank you for supporting the Retrievers of Truth. You unwavering loyalty and patronage are what keep me working so hard to get the truth out there about the Labrador. Things are going very well for the organization and for myself. I would not be speaking to you if it were not for your belief.

Today I would like to talk to you about something that has effected [sic] us all at one time or another - change. Change is the nature of existence. Do you think the now mighty and mentally superior Labrador retriever was always such a symbol of canine superiority? Definitely not.

I myself have experienced change in my life. An awakening or rebirth of sorts. And from that change came personal growth. A flowering, if you will. When a young yellow is but a pup he hasn't the slightest inkling of the changes he will endure. He goes though life as a pet only to later become the true master.

I can't tell you how to overcome change but I can tell you to look to the future. Aim for the stars. Pick a point in your mind that you want to reach and allow yourself to change - to adapt and be ready for anything that might come your way.

Like a wise old yellow once told me, "If I didn't change my mind, I'd be thinking the same things every single day."

Yours truly, Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole

And the old "polar bear" password for the message boards isn't working. At least one person has sent us a comment with the new password, but I haven't approved it yet, as it's no fun to just get the answer. WHY is it the new password, people? How was it figured out? Let us know.

Update: OK, I'm getting comments (that I'm not approving b/c they're repetitive) giving me the password. No explanation. So, for those of you who just want the password without explanation, scroll over this white text to see it:
1CF11D16-C378-4D5A-B038-00DF9ED171FF

Now, anyone have an explanation? I don't have time today to research this, but I'm really interested to know how this was found. Thanks.

There's a new commercial up on Broadbandstories.com (found via the ROT message board) with Mittelwerk in it, touting Verizon.

Thanks Todd and Allison for the tip.

OK, here's a little mystery. logan98 alerts us that Rachel has posted a picture on her blog that links to Sublymonal, and it also gives a username/password, but... to what?

Update: Check Allison's comment below for a reveal about Sublymonal, but meanwhile... the site linked from Rachel's photo has changed -- it's now a Coca-Cola site instead of Sublymonal. Oh, sublymonal.com is now redirecting to that site. What gives?

Update again: OK, Allison has explained the Coke redirect. Meanwhile, the Lost Experience Clues site says try this link instead -- http://129.33.95.179/shell.swf -- and it worked for me. Wow, freaky video!

OK, so apparently there was a Hanso commercial played during tonight's Lost. I have the whole ep on ReplayTV, and I scanned through for it, but didn't catch it. Going to go check again. Meanwhile, some folks over at http://thelostexperienceclues.blogspot.com/ are working on getting it up on YouTube, and the Truth Tempest provided this handy transcript:

[An office setting with a Hanso Foundation sign and Thomas Mittelwerk in a lab coat.]

Screen:
Dr Thomas Mittelwerk
President and Chief Technologist
The Hanso Foundation

Mittelwerk:
Spirited debate, it's the cornerstone of our philosophy at the Hanso Foundation.
We're reaching out to a better tomorrow, and that means listening to our critics, even those who would lob unfounded claims in the darkness.
We are confident in our mission. Which is why we invite you to talk about us, discuss our accomplishments and continued progress.
We are here for you.
Thank you, and namaste.

Screen:
The Hanso Foundation

[End]

So, no new site or definite clues. I'll post the link to video as soon as I see it somewhere, or if YOU have it, please let us know. Thanks

Update: I caught the commercial in the SECOND hour of Lost that aired tonight. Nothing to add to what's above, though, except it looks like Mittelwerk has lost the icky fake ponytail. (hoorah!) Oh, and also, some folks over at the Lost Exp. Clues site are saying they received weird phone calls today telling them to watch the show tonight for clues... not sure what that's all about.

Update again: YouTube capture of the commercial is up.

Beverly alerts us to a new Rachel blog update -- which includes an audio conversation with GidgetGirl (who is apparently Hugh's girlfriend). Looks like Rachel's heading to Paris.

Caught up, I think

OK, I think I'm mostly caught up now (and so is the game so far file). I haven't tracked all the stuff on the ROT site, just Rachel and DJ Dan, but I think I get the gist. Rachel went from Iceland to Italy and got some info there, then Mittelwerk took off on his mystery ship, the Helgus Antonius, (after getting his weirdo blood treatments and vaccines) and he's probably headed to the mystery island to do the mystery Spider Protocol.

We also know that Rachel worked for Widmore Corporation, that her mother is dead, and that THAT is why she's so het up about all this. She also maybe related to someone evil, since she says her genes make her instincts lie to her.

What else? Anything definitely in-game and substantive that we should know about?

Oh, and poster Gutsch points out this still-active version of the Hanso site, which is weird and kind of cool. Wonder how that was found...

Sorry, all. I am in the swamp of swampy workload over here. But I will catch up. Working on it... Thanks for all who are faithfully posting comments -- it's going to help big time in my catch-up effort.

Ellen is missing. That's the bad news. Maybe she was kidnapped by those Hanso creeps.

Until I find her, check out Rachel's new blog post about her recent "hacking": HERE!

We've been on vacation and wanted you guys to know we are still here. Help us catch up.

Post your updates HERE (click on "Comments", of course)... so where are we now?!?
